I'm an assistant professor of philosophy at the University of Texas at Arlington, writing about the metaphysics, epistemology, and ethics of consciousness; for more about my work and interests, see my research section.

I studied Philosophy and Psychology at the University of Oxford, then completed my PhD in Philosophy at the University of Toronto in 2015. I was a postdoc at the Australian National University in Canberra from 2015 to 2017, where I wrote a book based on my doctoral dissertation: Combining Minds (OUP 2019). From 2017 to 2019 I was a postdoc at the Ruhr-University Bochum in Germany, working on a new project titled Empathic Reason, which is now a book under contract with Oxford University Press. From 2019 to 2023 I was a postdoc at the Center for Mind, Brain, and Consciousness at New York University, and an affiliate of the Mind, Ethics, and Policy Program.

I live with my spouse Kate, an artist and arts educator,

in Arlington, Texas. I'm nonbinary and my pronouns are they/them or he/him.
